Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

We call the eyes "the windows to the soul," so it's obvious that eyelids frame one of the most important features of the human face. Fortunately, there's a great deal that can be done to give your eyes the treatment they deserve, and outstanding results are the rule when the renowned plastic surgeons of Beverly Hills Physicians perform eyelid procedures

Known medically as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery seeks to remove any flaws from eyelids that may distract from the beauty of the eyes themselves. This may include correcting dark, puffy circles under the eyes through a lower blepharoplasty procedure, dealing with an issue that can make a patient look tired or as if he or she is not getting enough sleep. For upper eyelids, BHP surgeons can address double hooded, heavy eyelids which make the eyes look smaller and more tired looking.

lower blepharoplasty (bags and puffiness) under the eyes removed

32 year of mother of 3; complaining looking tired and having dark circles under the eyes, no matter how much sleep or rest she gets. She underwent a lower blepharoplasty procedure to remove the fat pad under the eyes. The procedure took about 1 hour to perform under local anesthesia; she was up and about the same day and back to daily activities with 2 days.

Procedures typically involve the removal of excess skin and fat on the eyelids and allow the surgeon to create a far more attractive setting for the eyes. This type of procedure is highly effective for treating eyelids that may appear droopy and can typically create a dramatically more youthful and vibrant appearance.

At the same time, blepharoplasty is not always a strictly cosmetic procedure. Sagging eyelids can actually interfere with peripheral vision, a particularly important matter while driving, playing sports, and participating in a range of activities. The procedure is extremely safe and visible scaring is so minimal as to be nonexistent.

Though obviously a delicate procedure, blepharoplasty is one of the older types of plastic surgery and has been performed countless times by the health and beauty team at Beverly Hills Physicians. In combination with other procedures, such as facelifts, it can definitely help to create truly dramatic improvements in a patient's appearance and sense of well-being.

Ethnic Eyelid Surgery - Ethnic Blepharoplasty

A procedure called double eyelid surgery is especially popular with people of East Asian ancestry who wish to add a crease to their eyelids and, at times, remove some tissue. Often, the result is that eyes also appear somewhat larger but also generally more attractive.

To be very clear, this kind of eyelid surgery cannot and should not remove ethnic traits. When performed with sensitivity and skill by one of BHP's top plastic surgeons, it can make patients feel better about their appearance while preserving their sense of self. Patients should never have to choose between pride in their ancestry and pride in their appearance.
