Endometrial Ablation

Endometrial AblationEndometriosis is a condition in which cells from the uterus move outside the organ, producing excessive menstrual bleeding and a number of other distressing symptoms. The most typical symptom is significant pelvic pain, which can arise during menstruation, sexual intercourse, and bowel movements. Endometriosis can also often result in infertility. As more and more women find themselves dealing with the often painful and difficult gynecological condition, an increasing number are turning to Beverly Hills Physicians for such leading edge procedures as endometrial ablation.

Endometrial ablation through a specialist at Beverly Hills Physicians may be an outstanding solution for a number of women. While it is not recommended for women who plan on becoming pregnant, it is often the most practical and reliable endometriosis treatment for women who do not wish to receive a hysterectomy, which removes the uterus entirely. This alternative endometriosis surgery works by removing only the lining of the uterus, which is primarily responsible for the excessive bleeding and pain.

There are numerous other approaches to treating both endometriosis and endometriosis pain available through BHP, including hormone therapy and pain medications. At the same time, it is also important to establish a correct diagnosis. In many instances, an endometrial biopsy may be called for. In this procedure, a doctor takes a small sample of the uterus to find the cause of the excessive bleeding and also to rule out cancer of the uterus.

Endometriosis is a distressing condition that can impact women of all ages. While premenopausal endometriosis is more common, post-menopausal women are also impacted. 85% of cases of these cases will be benign, but an endometrial biopsy will very likely be called for in these cases. Fortunately, surgical and nonsurgical treatments are available for women of all ages and the highly knowledgeable and compassionate gynecologists of BHP are ready and able to use every tool available to help patients overcome their pain and move on with their lives.
