A fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon with extensive experience in sports medicine, Dr. Meier specializes in the arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee conditions as well as the ankle, hip, elbow and wrist. He has received international recognition for his many contributions to his field.

Dr. Meier believes teaching and research are essential to staying at the forefront of this evolving medical specialty. He regularly presents his original research, performs surgery and teaches advanced arthroscopic orthopedic procedures to surgeons all over the world in places such as Europe, Asia, South America and Africa as well as the United States. In 2003, he founded Arthroscopy Worldwide, an outreach program with volunteer medical experts who travel internationally to teach advanced minimally-invasive surgery techniques in developing parts of the world.

On a local level, Dr. Meier is a faculty member of the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where he trains orthopedic surgery resident physicians.

Dr. Meier has performed clinical and basic scientific research into some of the most progressive areas of orthopedics including management of rotator cuff tears in the shoulder and cartilage and ligament disorders of the knee. He has developed many innovative techniques and his research has been published in textbooks and leading orthopedic specialty journals.
